Seeing is Believing

cast: Blind man, Woman, 2 Disciples, Jesus

(The road on the floor is set up as in skit 1. A blind beggar enters finding his way with his walking stick)
Blind Man: Money for the blind? Money for the blind? Won't anyone help a poor blind man? (a woman stops to get money out of a small bag for him but is having difficulty untying it. The "blind" man breaks his blind act, looks closely at what she is doing, then takes the bag from her.) Here, let me help you. (The woman realizes he isn't blind, grabs the bag, hits him over the head with it, and hurries away.) Okay, Okay, I'm not really blind, but I used to be. Old habits die hard, you know. (addressing the audience) She thinks I'm crazy, but up until recently, I was blind. Couldn't see a blessed thing, and what's more, I had been that way my whole life. You don't think I'm crazy too, do you? Let me tell you how it happened. I was begging for money as I did every day--what else could I do?--when some men came along, (enter men) and one of them spoke to the other saying...

Disciple: Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?

Blind Man: Well, I was about to offer my opinion on the subject when someone replied...

Jesus: Neither this man nor his parents sinned. This happened so that God's glory would be displayed.

Blind Man: The next thing I knew I felt something cold and wet like mud on my eyes.

Jesus: Go wash in the pool of Siloam. (Jesus and disciples leave)

Blind Man: I thought, what kind of a joke is this to play on a poor blind man, but I did what he said because, well, I HAD MUD ON MY FACE! ......
